I am joining with my fellow bloggers in celebrating some new blogs that I enjoyed this past month.
As is the blogtipping tradition, (created by Easton Ellsworth) I'll offer a few reasons why I like the blog and one suggestion for improvement.
My self created theme for this month is relatively new Iowa Bloggers you should know. There are way more than 3, so feel free to browse my Central Iowa list on my blog roll.
This month's nods go to….
Focal Point is Chris Punke's take on using viral video on the web.
Things I love:
- Chris is shifting away from links only posting to sharing his own expertise.
- As you might expect, Chris uses a lot of video to make his points.
- Chris' style is very approachable and comfortable.
Suggestion:
- In your new style of posts — keep up the tradition of linking out.
Angela Maiers is a tightly woven blend of tips, stories and inspirational posts for educators. Angela Maiers reaches out through her blog, her seminars and her consulting services.
Things I love:
- The diversity of your posts.
- How you share your own experiences and hard learned lessons.
- Your natural, engaging style of writing.
Suggestion:
- How about expanding your resources to include others involved in the educational process, like parents?
Moment on Money is a financial planner's blog. But Art Dinkin is no ordinary financial planner. He speaks in plain English about things that matter to all of us, like identity theft and life insurance.
Things I love:
- Great financial information in language we can understand.
- Lots of outbound links that allow us to explore the topic even more.
- Every post, a practical tip or insight. What's not to love?
Suggestion:
- How about some quizzes or worksheets so we can do some self-analysis?

I really appreciate the mention… and many thanks for the advice! Your point is well taken… there are countless other folks out there with some great ideas. Sharing that great stuff with my readers will certainly benefit us all. (You and Mike do a great job of that! I should take a lessen from you both, huh?)
I’ll be sure to keep that in mind as I move forward.
I didn’t even notice the new photo until Art pointed it out. That is a great photo! 🙂 — me thinks one on my site might be necessary soon too.
Drew, check out the blogs I have written on Dividend.com, a site I am co-founder of. It’s written so that my 11 year-old daughter can understand, because I do want her to understand it. Your blog is fantastic. I read it often.
Drew, thanks for the tip. I have been thinking about how to connect more with parents, so great suggestion. I will get started on that right away!

I think adding more links to your meaty posts will just create the best of both worlds. I like your more informative posts better than the plain links.
But offering your readers resources to dig deeper makes them even better!

I think it’s critical for our kids to understand money, credit and investing. Thanks for creating such a good reference.

I think one of the elements that makes teaching such a difficult profession is the lack of support from parents.
If you could find a way to help parents understand how critical it is for them to know/be in touch with their kid’s teachers, it would do a huge service to all parties.
